För ett par år sedan skrev jag om Antony Flew, en brittisk ateistisk filosof, som blivit övertygad om att det måste finnas en gud trots allt. En viss debatt uppstod om vad han egentligen sagt och blivit övertygad om. Som för att skingra alla tvivel om var han står idag publicerar han nu en bok där han berättar om sin nyvunna gudstro. Titeln säger det mesta: There Is a God: How the World’s Most Notorious Atheist Changed His Mind.

På amazon.com kan vi läsa:

Jag kan inte vara fundamentalist, för jag har ju rätt.

Richard Dawkins i boken The God Delusion som nu finns i, en kanske inte direkt välbehövd, översättning på svenska. (Tack till Ulf Bjereld för denna pärla.)

Andrew Rilstone skriver mer om Dawkins och citerar från debatt i brittisk press. Bland annat skriver den välkände teologen Alister McGrath:

Dawkins’ more polemical writing are perhaps directed toward an audience which lacks familiarity with the Christian intellectual tradition and hence prepared to accept his assertions without question.

På kritiken svarar Dawkins:

This is a stock criticism. It assumes there is a serious subject called theology, which one must study in depth before one can disbelieve in God.

Som Rilstone påpekar handlar kritiken inte om Dawkins rätt att inte tro på Gud utan om att han faktiskt skriver böcker
om saker han inte verkar ha studerat överhuvudtaget.

Ann Heberlein kommentar både i SvD och Sydsvenskan det faktum att ”Humanisterna” översätter Sam Harris bok Letter to a Christian Nation. Ja, de inte bara översätter den. De vill också dela ut den till Sveriges skolor. Hon skriver:

Harris beskrivning av kristna och kristen tro är en karikatyr som har ytterst litet med den svenska verkligheten att göra.

Och:

I ett samhälle som präglas av mångfald bör ödmjukhet i relation till de egna sanningarna och övertygelserna råda. Ödmjukhet är dock inte Harris bästa gren. Hans totala brist på ödmjukhet är lika frapperande som hans hat inför alla som inte delar hans verklighetsuppfattning.
